Springfield, Illinois (Lincoln Land Community College) January 5, 2016 – Today Lincoln Land Community College Capital City Training Center and MK Education announced plans to expand their strategic partnership to connect short term healthcare career training courses. The two leaders plan to deliver new solutions that integrate an already successful Pharmacy Technician Training Program with Externships to empower students to connect with their patients and collaborate more effectively with preceptor sites.
Pharmacy technicians are entry-level personnel that work in many different pharmacy settings within the health care industry. They assist the pharmacist as the right-hand person in many different pharmacy practice settings. One of the main duties of a pharmacy technician are to enter patient data and information into the computer system to process prescriptions. They are also responsible for dispensing commercially available medication, compounding specialty orders, and/or preparing intravenous medications.

Salary ranges from $18,900 to $35,900 and varies depending on location, experience and hours. The job outlook for Pharmacy Technicians is expected to grow by 70,700 jobs by 2022 (www.bls.gov). A typical employer would be commercial or retail pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, or pharmaceutical companies.
