PrintPalm Desert, California – Bilingual Pharmacy Technicians are currently in very high demand in Palm Desert, California. Did you know, you can actually get the training you need to qualify for many entry-level pharmacy tech jobs in less than a year? College of the Desert offers a Pharmacy Technician career training program you can complete in as little as six months.

College of the Desert’s Partnership and Community Education (PaCE) Department is pleased to announce a new Pharmacy Technician training program beginning in March 2016. This 300-hour program is offered in partnership with MK Education and meets training requirements in California for a certified pharmacy technician. This program prepares students for employment as a pharmacy technician in California and also for national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

As pharmacies expand patient care services, the role of and need for pharmacy technicians will also expand. A pharmacy technician works closely with pharmacists in hospitals, drug and grocery stores, and other medical settings to help prepare and distribute medicines to patients. Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for assisting the pharmacist and assuring the quality of all pharmaceutical services. This is one of many important careers in healthcare. If you are interested in helping to improve another person’s well-being through medication regulation and distribution, consider pursuing the pharmacy technician training program at College of the Desert today!

College of the Desert is a Certified Training Provider for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal law which provides training for people who are out of work, those that need training to change career paths, or people whose skills need improving in order to obtain a new job. Candidates must be determined, eligible, and suitable in order to receive WIOA funds. If eligible, candidates can have their full tuition covered as well as any additional expenses necessary to start a new career. College of the Desert offers training programs, but does not determine if you qualify for WIOA training funds. This program does have open enrollment and payment plan options for those who may not qualify for WIOA funds.
